The Founder comes courtesy of John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side ), and the Weinstein Company. Oscar nominee Michael Keaton stars as Ray Kroc, a struggling milkshake salesman who helps franchise the San Bernadino-based restaurant McDonald's. Through his ambitious work, the small but highly efficient burger joint came to be the empire we now know as McDonald's fast food. Keaton is joined by Laura Dern (Jurassic Park), John Carroll Lynch (Zodiac), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), BJ Novak (The Office), Patrick Wilson (Insidious), and Linda Cardellini (Freaks and Geeks). The film is written by Robert D. Siegel of The Wrestler fame. Official synopsis: The true story of how Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman from Illinois, met Mac (John Carroll Lynch) and Dick McDonald (Nick Offerman), who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. Kroc soon maneuvers himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a multi-billion dollar empire.
